The Tropical Institute offers a range of professional training opportunities for doctors and healthcare staff, such as the international course "Diploma in Tropical Medicine and International Health" (DTMIH). In the area of tropical and travel medicine training and further education, the Tropical Institute organizes basic and refresher courses on travel medicine several times a year in accordance with the curriculum of the German Tropical Medicine Society (DTG). The Tropical Medicine Outpatient Clinic is also one of the few places in Germany where doctors can acquire the necessary domestic training to carry out the additional training in "Tropical Medicine". In addition to tropical medicine, there are authorizations for further training in infectiology (6 months) and internal medicine/general medicine (6 months).
