Else Kröner Fresenius Prize for Medical Development Cooperation 2023
The prize is endowed with 100,000 euros and this year honors a project on the topic of "Leprosy".
The Else Kröner Fresenius Prize for Medical Development Cooperation 2023 goes to the prize-winning duo Dorothy Das Pariyar and Tham Bahadur Gurung from the NGO International Nepal Fellowship (INF Nepal) for the project "70 Years of Leprosy Relief - towards zero leprosy". The project was nominated by TERRA TECH Förderprojekte e. V. The award ceremony took place on October 17, 2023 at the Wintergarten Varieté Berlin. Keynote speakers included Dr. Bärbel Kofler, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, and German leprosy expert Prof. Dr. Gisela Bretzel, head of the diagnostic laboratories and the "Neglected Mycobacterial Diseases" working group at the Munich Tropical Institute.
