The incidence of congenital heart defects is about 1% of all newborns, and this is not onlyx true for Germany but worldwide. When the appropriate diagnostic measures, therapeutic strategies and finally treatment is applied, survival of affected children increases dramatically On eof the most importanet factors is an early and adequate diagnosis, hopwever not every team has sufficient and adequate cometences and training and not every hosptal hast he technical ability to perform general ultrasound, echocardiogtraphy, other imaging techniques or even cardiac catheter and surgery. In some circumstances basich diagnostic or therapeutic tools are not availble. In most places worldwide, pediatric cardiology services are however provided at an excellent international standard.

In order to improve the scientific cooperation and the exchange of knowledge, and also to improve the training situation and partially also the medical service locally, we are happy that we can participate and collaborate internationally with many colleagues and hospitals wordlwide. These cooperations vary from many personal contacts and friendships and participations at meetings and training courses but also include visits of variable duration for training and teaching purposes.

Based on these cooperations we can offer our direct contacts for those colleagues who are interested and eager to open new personal horizons. These contacs may also serve students for international exchange programs and fellowships. Finally we can offer these contacts for families and/or patients who want to spent their holidays in these countries and offer them competent contacts in the unlikely case of emergencies.
