Matthias Siebeck is a senior researcher at the Institute of Medical Education of LMU University Hospital, LMU Munich, Germany.
Matthias is a medical educator and a member of the COSIMA Research Unit on “Facilitating diagnostic competences in simulation-based learning environments in the university context”.
Until 2021, he was a surgeon and consultant in the Department of General, Visceral and Transplantation Surgery at the LMU Hospital. His biomedical research is linked to his clinical interest in inflammatory bowel disease.
He has conducted faculty development activities for LMU staff since 1998 and for medical schools abroad since 2003. While serving as course director for the undergraduate medical curriculum at LMU, he introduced several innovations in medical teaching and learning.
In the year 2009, Matthias was a co-founder of the Center for International Health (CIH) at LMU. Since then, he has led faculty development programmes, contributed to the curricula of new medical schools and collaborated with evaluation and accreditation teams in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe.
