The topic of the Public Health Symposium 2017 was "Health-related Sustainable Development Goals - Should the changing environment concern us?"

The symposium discussed challenges and opportunities around three health-related SDGs in the changing environment. A moderated discussion invited the participants to discuss and answer several questions regarding:

• the opportunities for medical research in environment and health
• the role of One Health approach to prevent public health threats from environmental hazards
• and the evidence-based problem-solving strategies to mitigate the climate-related health issues

We had the pleasure to welcome speakers from Germany, Ethiopia, Nepal and Indonesia.
