Quality Medicine Initiative
The LMU Klinikum is a co-initiator and member of the Quality Medicine Initiative (IQM), an association of hospitals under municipal, denominational or private sponsorship and university hospitals.
IQM is the first cross-organizational initiative for medical quality assurance in Germany. All IQM member hospitals pursue a common goal: the continuous improvement and assurance of quality in medicine.
In doing so, we not only meet the minimum standard required by law, but also go well beyond this in the interests of the best medicine and the greatest possible patient safety. This also includes regularly informing the public about medical quality data.
These results are based on routine data, are therefore verifiable and remain tamper-proof. They record all treated cases of the quality indicators to be measured and show mortality and complication rates as well as quantity information and treatment techniques relevant for the assessment.
Reading guide In addition to quality measurement on the basis of routine data and its prompt publication, active quality management through peer reviews is mandatory for IQM members. This involves doctors reviewing processes on site as part of cross-carrier inspections in order to achieve continuous improvement of treatment results through peer-to-peer exchange.
