Your stay with us
We are delighted that you have chosen the LMU Clinic. Our staff will try to make your time with us as pleasant as possible. Do you have questions about admission, the treatment contract or your discharge? Here you will find helpful information for inpatients and outpatients.
Outpatient treatment
In addition to inpatient care, we offer outpatient examinations and treatments in the outpatient clinics. You usually need a referral slip from your GP or specialist for this. Further information on outpatient treatment can be found on the pages of the individual clinics.
Outpatient surgery center (AOZ)
Nowadays, many operations can be performed on an outpatient basis - i.e. without an overnight stay in hospital. Our new surgery center at the Großhadern campus has its own outpatient surgery center (AOZ) with four operating theaters. Our experienced team will take care of you there - from patient admission in the morning to discharge home a few hours after the operation.
Inpatient treatment
Your stay in our clinics is associated with a few formalities. On the day of admission, you or your relatives should go to the respective patient admission desk with your referral form and medical reports.
There we will record your personal data and the name of your health insurance company electronically. You will be given an individual patient number. We will also keep your patient file under this number.
When you are admitted, we will send you a treatment contract including further documents. If you would like to find out more in advance, you can also view these forms in our download center.
Please bring only the essentials for your stay at the clinic, such as toiletries, underwear, comfortable clothing and reading material for relaxation. Make sure you bring comfortable clothing suitable for your therapy and the necessary day and nightwear. If you have any questions, please contact the ward staff.
Valuables
If possible, we ask you not to bring any valuables into the hospital. There is a lockable closet in every patient room. However, please do not leave your valuables in the wardrobe. Please ask the ward staff about the facilities available in the respective clinic.
Information about your medication
It is important that we know the medication you are taking at home. Therefore, please bring a current nationally standardized medication plan (issued by your family doctor) or this completed document with you. This will help to avoid interactions with new medication.
Near the gates of the various clinics in the city center there are signposts to the individual wards and departments. The porters and nursing staff will also be happy to provide information.
For legal reasons, employees of the LMU Clinic cannot provide binding interpreting services. In particular, information on diagnosis and treatment must be translated by interpreters provided by the patients themselves and confirmed by a notary.
For questions that do not relate to medical treatment, hospital staff can provide support and, if necessary, call in colleagues with the relevant language skills.
A treatment contract will be concluded with you on admission. As an inpatient, you will also receive a leaflet containing information on care rates, special charges, flat rates per case and possible optional services.
With your signature, you authorize the LMU Klinikum München and its staff to provide medical treatment. You consent to the exchange of personal data between the persons involved in your treatment, insofar as this is necessary for your treatment. You also accept the charges for the general and medical services provided. You have the option of agreeing additional optional services such as treatment by a chief physician and a single or double room. If you have any questions about the contracts or fees, please do not hesitate to contact the admissions staff.
Important documents
In addition to the general hospital services, the LMU Klinikum offers additional services, so-called optional services. Every patient can make use of these via their private insurance, a private supplementary insurance or as a self-payer.
A distinction is made between outpatient private medical treatment and inpatient elective medical treatment (so-called chief physician treatment) as well as non-medical elective services such as accommodation in single or double rooms.
If you opt for optional inpatient services, a separate optional services agreement will be concluded. You can also view this on our website. If you would like to make use of optional services, please clarify with your health insurance company which services it will cover before your stay. If you have any questions about optional services, you are welcome to contact us on the day of your admission.
Important documents
If you are insured through a statutory health insurance fund, are over 18 years of age and are not exempt from co-payment, you must currently pay ten euros per day of care to the clinic for inpatient treatment - for a maximum of 28 days within a calendar year. This co-payment is passed on to the health insurance companies.
Main cash desk
In Großhadern, our main cash desk is located on the second floor of Besucherstrasse between cubes D/E and E/F. At the City Center Campus, it is located in the Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at Nußbaumstraße 7.
Central Admission (Großhadern Campus and City Center)
089 4400-0 (patients are admitted from 0 to 24 hours)
Discharge
Your ward doctor will decide when you can be discharged. If you wish to go home against medical advice, you must sign a separate declaration.
When you are discharged, do not forget to take your personal belongings and deposited valuables with you and to deregister your telephone. Please return any items you have borrowed in good time.
Discharge management
If required, the LMU Clinic offers discharge management (in accordance with the provisions of Section 39 (1a) sentence 9 SGB V) to ensure that patients receive appropriate and continuous care after hospital treatment. You will receive information and a declaration of consent for discharge management from us when you are admitted to hospital. You can also download this information and the declaration of consent from our website before your stay.
