Post-Covid outpatient clinic
Post-COVID syndrome is a long-lasting complication of acute COVID-19 disease that can lead to reduced quality of life and performance. Our outpatient clinic focuses on the treatment of complex and severe cases of post-COVID syndrome. Together with all specialist clinics at the LMU Clinic, we offer interdisciplinary treatment for this group of patients. Our university treatment services are supplemented by telemedical consultation hours, case conferences with the possibility of participation by referring colleagues and the opportunity for patients to take part in medical research studies on post-COVID syndrome. The LMU Clinic cooperates closely with doctors in private practice and rehabilitation facilities in Bavaria.
What we offer
- a cross-sector care concept for severe post-COVID cases
- outpatient treatment as well as complex day-care treatments lasting several days and necessary inpatient therapies for post-COVID patients
- Comprehensive and extended diagnostic classification with interdisciplinary care
- telemedical patient care
- Cooperation with rehabilitation facilities
- Opportunity to participate in medical research projects to optimize care for post-COVID syndrome
- Registration and referral exclusively by the treating general practitioner or specialist
- Our outpatient clinic contacts the patient and asks them to send us any relevant preliminary findings in advance
Our team consists of experts from all disciplines of the LMU Clinic, in particular infectiology, pulmonology, cardiology, psychiatry/psychosomatics, physical medicine and pain therapy.
As a team, we develop interdisciplinary, tailor-made concepts for our joint patients and are on hand to advise you as a caring colleague.

Post-COVID syndrome is a new clinical picture. As a result, there is comparatively little experience with effective treatment to date. As a university hospital, we are intensively involved in researching this disease in order to better understand and treat it. In this context, we conduct our own studies and participate in a wide range of collaborative research projects, such as the federally funded "Network University Medicine" (NUM) project.
Since the end of 2019, the novel coronavirus SARSCoV-2 has spread worldwide. In Germany, several million people have been infected and many have experienced a symptomatic COVID-19 illness. In around 10% of acutely ill people, prolonged or new symptoms are observed even months after the acute COVID-19 illness.
In post-COVID syndrome, the symptoms usually persist for 12 weeks after the acute illness. The typical symptoms include
- Tiredness and fatigue
- Reduced performance capacity
- shortness of breath
- cough
- Chest pain
- Memory and concentration problems
- Headaches
- Loss of taste and smell
- hair loss
