Summer party 2025 - South Seas Edition at the LMU Clinic
Even though the traditional LMU Klinikum Cup had to be cancelled due to the bad weather in the morning, the sun came out just in time for the start of the party: "Three bands, twelve food trucks, 2,800 visitors and many different organizers in the background: the best conditions for a lavish party," said Prof. Markus Lerch, Medical Director of the LMU Klinikum at the opening of the party. "I am very much looking forward to celebrating the summer party with you all."
The awards ceremony that followed focused on sporting aspects: Yuntao Hao, PhD student at the Dr. von Hauner Children's Hospital, came on stage on behalf of all five runners of the mixed team that achieved first place at the B2Run Munich.
LMU doctors Dr. Lisa Greiner and Maria-Grazia Gerards were honored for playing in the Women Doctors' World Cup in Dublin and taking home the title (see box below).
The twelve food trucks served delicacies ranging from pizza and pasta to Steckerlfisch and grilled chicken. DJ Dennis, Vieto's SteeCafe, Buck Roger & The Sidetrackers and the drum group VEM COMIGO, led by Tinga Bispo dos Santos from Salvador de Bahia, provided the sound for the festival.

World champions in a double pack
The Doctors' World Cup took place in Dublin at the beginning of July - with great success for the German women's team. They won the title 4:1. Also in the squad: LMU doctors Dr. Lisa Greiner and Maria-Grazia Gerards, who supported the team as players.
"The time in Dublin was incredibly fulfilling, we played soccer in the mornings and listened to lectures in the afternoons, Maria even gave one herself. It was a great exchange between young and old," reports Dr. Lisa Greiner, who was on the pitch as captain and initiated the first goal in the final with a header. Dr. Lisa Greiner is employed at the Medical Clinic IV and works as a junior doctor in internal medicine on the 1st shift in the emergency department in the city center.
Maria-Grazia Gerards, who scored five goals as a striker, is also delighted: "It was very rewarding to be on the pitch with so many colleagues from all over the world - and then to win!" She is part of the neuropaediatric consultation service in the children's clinic at the Dr. von Hauner Children's Hospital.
The German soccer doctors' team was founded privately in 1996 and has been playing in an annual world championship for over 20 years. Today, 24 nations take part in the tournament, which is held annually in conjunction with a medical congress. Since last year, there has also been an official women's tournament. The German men's team finished in 3rd place this year, with England becoming world champions.
