The Care-for-Rare Foundation for Children with Rare Diseases was established to give affected children access to modern, innovative diagnostic and therapeutic procedures across national borders. At the Care-for-Rare Center of the Dr. von Hauner Children's Hospital of the LMU Clinic Munich, children with rare diseases are treated, the causes of disease processes are researched and new therapies are developed. This holistic approach opens up new horizons for patients with rare and common diseases. The Care-for-Rare Foundation cooperates with an international network of doctors and scientists.
The main tasks of FrühStart ins Leben e.V. are to support affected parents and families in the event of an imminent premature birth and to support them during and after their time in the intensive care unit. To enable parents to be with their premature babies or sick newborns day and night, the association has planned to set up parent-premature baby rooms in the New Haun Hospital. The association is hoping for donations to set up these rooms with the necessary equipment such as special incubators and monitoring systems. In this way, donors will be able to make this difficult time easier for parents and their premature babies and promote the best possible development of the very youngest.
McDonald's Kinderhilfe has been helping seriously ill children in Germany since 1987. The foundation operates 18 Ronald McDonald Houses throughout Germany near children's hospitals as temporary homes for families with seriously ill children. In three Ronald McDonald Oases, families can also retreat and feel safe directly in the clinic. There are two Ronald McDonald Houses in Munich, at the German Heart Center and at the Großhadern Clinic. The relatives of the young patients of the Dr. von Hauner Children's Hospital also find a warm welcome here.
The non-profit Bettina Bräu Foundation has been supporting the Center for Pediatric Hematology and Oncology (Children's Cancer Center Munich) at the Dr. von Hauner Children's Hospital for many years. It supports research projects in the field of pediatric oncology and helps with basic research to learn more about the development of childhood cancer. The foundation also supports the operation of parents' apartments. A major concern is educating parents and young patients about cancer. The Bettina Bräu Foundation would like to contribute to further increasing the survival rates of children suffering from cancer.
In cooperation with the treatment team at the "Children's Cancer Center Munich im Hauner", affected parents have been committed to alleviating the fate of cancer in children since 1985. A day clinic, a modern transplant department and much more have been and are being initiated and co-financed, overnight accommodation for parents provided, staff positions financed, psychosocial care optimized and an aftercare facility founded. The Intern 3 parents' initiative is helping to wrest more life from childhood cancer. In the future, this will also include supporting the possibilities of research and creating future-oriented, optimal conditions for the treatment of children with cancer in the New Hauner.
Thanks to the great commitment of the Großhadern Children's Hospital Parents' Initiative, the ward for small patients, which had not existed there until then, was opened in 1997, followed by the outpatient clinic in 1999. Right from the start, support came from many Munich citizens, but also from numerous major donors, as well as the AZ and ARD gala "Stars in der Manege" and the "Sternstunden des Bayerischen Rundfunks". Today, the initiative collects donations for psychosocial work on the ward, for pioneering research projects and, to our delight, also for the New Hauner.
In 1847, Dr. August von Hauner founded the association in order to establish and maintain Munich's first children's hospital with the help of donations from "noble-minded people". Even today, the association strives to make everyday (hospital) life easier for our sick children with the help of donors." The Hauner Verein therefore supports projects that cannot or only insufficiently be financed by public funds, such as urgently needed staff positions, further training, equipment used in diagnostics and therapy and many renovation projects, so that medical care can continue at a high professional level.
The Omnibus project, founded in 1985 by the Franciscan and hospital chaplain Michael Först, helps the families of sick children. In the 22 rooms for parents in the Omnibus House opposite the Dr. von Hauner Children's Hospital, they can stay overnight close to their sick children, recharge their batteries and talk to other families. A pastoral care team supports them in difficult situations. As a foundation, the Omnibus project also provides financial support to parents, children and the hospital.
We are delighted with the commitment of the Munich Rotary Clubs of District 1840, who are actively supporting the New Hauner with their "Rotary4Hauner" initiative. The primary aim is to collect donations for psychosocial work for chronically and seriously ill children and young people and their often very burdened families. The funds are used, for example, for sports and recreation rooms, for the school for the sick, the sibling kindergarten or for work rooms for child psychologists and therapists.
Prevention is better than cure. Excellent care, improved health prevention and research for children are the goals of the Children's Health Foundation based at the Dr. von Hauner Children's Hospital. The focus here is on the prevention of allergies, the search for causes and the prevention of malnutrition and overeating as well as protection against infections. The Children's Health Foundation is not only committed to children with special health problems: the knowledge gained benefits all children and their families.
The Beisheim Foundation supports projects in the spirit of its founder Otto Beisheim: entrepreneurially and in partnership. It actively supports the development of projects to ensure their long-term success. Because it wants to prove how social innovations can benefit from economic and strategic know-how.
A self-determined life sometimes just needs a little support at the right time. The Beisheim Foundationdevelops and supports effective approaches that aim to strengthen the mental and physical health of young and older people and enable a balanced diet and lifestyle so that both young and old can live independently.
