Recent Accomplishments – PhD Graduation Ceremony

PhD Graduate of the Center for International Health (CIH)
On June 5th, 2025, the Munich Medical Research School (MMRS) PhD Graduation Ceremony took place in the Friedrich von Gärtner Saal, a former church on the grounds of LMU University Hospital (City Center Campus), and brought together graduates, faculty, families, and friends to honor the achievements of this year’s cohort of PhD students. The event featured a keynote speech by Prof. Dr. med. Markus Lerch, Medical Director of the LMU University Hospital, who highlighted the importance of research excellence and perseverance in the medical and scientific fields.

On behalf of our Teaching and Training Unit and the Center for International Health (CIH), we are thrilled to share that our PhD student, Aikins Ablorde, successfully completed his PhD and participated in the PhD Graduation Ceremony.

A total of 18 PhD students from the Medical Research Field – alongside many others from diverse doctoral programs – crossed the stage, marking the culmination of years of dedicated work and intellectual growth.

When asked to reflect on his journey, this is what Aikins had to say:

“This PhD program was a very intriguing journey. My line of thought is much more comprehensive than it was at the commencement of my PhD. The CIH PhD program provided me with a platform to exhibit my research capabilities. In spite of academic and research complexities, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, I now walk away with increased understanding and personal accomplishment.”

We are proud to have walked alongside Aikins throughout his doctoral journey, and we commend him for his accomplishments, not only in completing his PhD, but also in growing as a researcher and global health professional.

As he moves forward, we are confident that he will continue to make meaningful contributions in his field, and we look forward to witnessing the next chapter of his career unfold. Congratulations once again, Aikins!
