LMU insights General Medicine

On 15.03.2023, we once again opened the doors of our institute to celebrate the 5th LMU Day of General Practice with interested GPs, their practice teams and other friends of the institute with a fresh concept that not only offered informative lectures, but also a lot of fun and a good exchange with colleagues. We were able to welcome numerous guests to the Friedrich-von-Gärtner-Saal in the St. Vincent House, our new home, which underwent a modern renovation last year.
After Prof. Gensichen's welcome address, our new visiting professor at the Institute, Caleb Alexander from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in the USA, began with an exciting presentation on current challenges in the field of drug safety in primary care. Later in the afternoon, Prof. Rika Draenert from the LMU Antibiotic Stewardship Team followed with a practical presentation on rational antibiotic therapy in primary care.
The event was also livened up by the new Science Slam format, in which 6 team members presented their current projects in short talks in an entertaining and easy-to-understand way. There was a lot of laughter, but more serious topics were also on the agenda and provided food for thought.
Between the presentations, there were lunch and coffee breaks with poster sessions, during which the audience had the opportunity to exchange ideas with the speakers and each other. Other members of staff also gave the open-minded guests an insight into the Institute's projects and areas of work. The day was rounded off with a cozy conclusion with food and drink in the institute rooms of the St. Vinzenz-Haus.
The topics of the Science Slam at a glance:
- Vaccination: A dose of trust (Simon Keppeler)
- BACOM: A closer look(Rita Schwaiger)
- PARTNER: Ask your doctor AND pharmacist(Vita Brišnik)
- Recycling Data: The "green" study design(Hannah Schillok)
- Suicide prevention: Let's talk about it!(Constantin Brand)
- General practice - a mission statement (Jochen Gensichen)
On September 28, 2022, the LMU - Day of General Practice took place for the 4th time, this time with an "Open Day" in our new home, the St. Vinzenz Haus, and workshops in the rooms of the traditional Anatomical Institute. Collegial general medical exchange was once again the motto of the training event - independent of industry and gearedtowards direct benefits in everyday practice.
We had put together exciting workshops in four thematic blocks. The "Mental Health" workshop was dedicated entirely to the psychosocial aspects of GP work. The second workshop provided a "practice update" on current clinical topics. The "Training and Didactics" workshop was aimed at anyone interested in current developments in teaching - both in undergraduate and postgraduate training. The last workshop was thematically designed for the entire practice team. Participants were therefore able to choose a thematic focus or combine the seminars from the various workshops as they wished.
Another highlight was the awarding of the final certificates for the firstgraduates of the "GP 360°" training and management program. After three years at thehospital with further training in various departments, supplemented by their ownproject in general medical research, involvement in teaching and accompanied by a comprehensiveaccompanied by a comprehensive qualification program, the first six graduates have nowhave now completed the program and are moving on to provide GP care.
The Day of General Practice (TdA) is a training event for GPs, doctors in further training and medical assistants.
This year's event took place at the Campus Innenstadt, where participants were offered a diverse selection of lectures and workshops for the entire practice team. Prof. Dreischulte also gave his inaugural lecture as part of the TdA, in which he addressed the topic of drug therapy safety in multi-medication.
In keeping with the fifth season of the year, we ended the day with a pretzel and beer snack together.
We would like to thank all speakers and participants for a very successful TdA and are already looking forward to next year!
Prof. Dr. Jochen Gensichen, Prof. Dr. Tobias Dreischulte, Flora Kühne and the TdA team
Our LMU Day of General Practice was able to live up to the TdA motto "Colleagues meet colleagues" even in the difficult year 2020 thanks to an elaborate hygiene concept: On Saturday, October 3, 2020, the comprehensive training by GPs for GPs was allowed to take place as a face-to-face event in the spacious lecture hall wing of the Großhadern Clinic.
Many thanks to all speakers and participants!
Even under difficult conditions with limited possibilities (for example, a subsequent get-together and the MFA seminar had to be canceled this year), this 2nd LMU Day of General Practice was again a complete success, which we want to continue next year.
The Day of General Practice is a regional training event for GP practice teams. It has now become a permanent fixture of GP training in Germany. Under the motto "Colleagues meet colleagues", the event is characterized by its great diversity.
In 2019, a comprehensive training course by GPs for GPs took place on Saturday, March 16 under the motto "Colleagues meet colleagues".
Many thanks to all speakers and participants!
Dear colleagues,
Our LMU General Practice Day was a premiere - and a great success, which we will continue next year. Many thanks to all the speakers and participants - especially to the President of the Bavarian Medical Association, Dr. Gerald Quitterer, for his wonderful and exciting keynote speech.

One event block was intended for practice teams consisting of a doctor and an MFA. There were two separate workshops especially for MFAs. If you have any questions, please contact: allgemeinmedizin@med.uni-muenchen.de
