Our mission statement
The future of general practice
General practice plays a pioneering role in evidence-based healthcare. To this end, we rely on self-determined patients, interdisciplinary teams and targeted digitalization. Our most important investment in the future is the first-class promotion of young talent.
The Institute of General Practice is a bridge between university medicine and GP practice: to this end, we transfer our scientific findings into practice - and take new questions and further research tasks from practice. Our actions are determined by our core values: professionalism, meaningfulness and a spirit of research.
Our research
The aim of our research is to continuously improve the health and quality of life of patients treated by general practitioners. A holistic understanding in accordance with the bio-psycho-social model, which takes into account the individual lifeworlds of patients, is important to us. Through our research, we want to make a pioneering contribution to continuously improving the quality of GP treatment. Our research findings are therefore particularly relevant for GP practice teams and political decision-makers. Our research is independent of the pharmaceutical industry.
Our teaching
Teaching at the Institute of General Practice provides each and every LMU student with the knowledge and skills to implement evidence-based specialist knowledge in holistic outpatient care. Quality and practical relevance are core concerns for us. We actively involve colleagues in private practice in our teaching and regularly evaluate our courses.
Our network
The exchange with GP practice teams is one of our core missions. In addition, we engage in national and international exchange with researchers and all those involved in the healthcare system. We are strongly committed to tiered and integrated patient care. In doing so, we rely on personal contact and at the same time on the opportunities offered by digitalization.
Our institute management
For us, management means self-management, project management - and good cooperation with our partners in teaching and research. We are committed to creating an optimal working environment for us as a team, e.g. in terms of equipment, resources, communication and individual qualifications. Information and tasks are communicated proactively with clear responsibilities and priorities.
