UNITE4TB Annual Meeting 2026: Innovation and collaboration in tuberculosis research

From April 22-24, 2026, the UNITE4TB consortium met with global partners for the Annual Meeting in Munich.
The three-day meeting was hosted by UNITE4TB partner Otsuka in the historic Scholastika event space in the heart of Munich. The focus was on the consortium's continued progress in developing improved TB treatment regimens through innovative science, close collaboration and new, data-driven approaches.

Members of the consortium presented significant advances in the fields of pharmacology, microbiology, biomarker research and data science. The focus was also on integrated research approaches - from pharmacological models to AI- and machine learning-based analyses - that help to optimize therapeutic strategies and better predict treatment outcomes.

In addition, updates on the preliminary results of the DECISION, PARADIGM4TB and ENABLE clinical trials provided exciting insights into the breadth and maturity of the UNITE4TB pipeline and highlighted the consortium's progress in developing innovative TB research.

A particular highlight was the keynote address by Clifton E. Barry III, Head of the Tuberculosis Research Section at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), on the topic: "Stratifying Tuberculosis: Understanding Disease Heterogeneity to Guide Treatment Duration". The presentation highlighted the importance of disease heterogeneity for individualized treatment approaches and optimizing treatment duration.
