5th LMU Day of General Practice
Last Wednesday, we once again opened the doors of our institute to celebrate the 5th LMU Day of General Practice with interested GPs, their practice teams and other friends of the institute with a fresh concept that not only offered informative lectures, but also a lot of fun and a good collegial exchange. We were able to welcome numerous guests to the Friedrich-von-Gärtner-Saal in the St. Vincent House, our new home, which underwent a modern renovation last year.
After a welcome by Prof. Gensichen, our new visiting professor at the Institute, Caleb Alexander from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in the USA, began with an exciting presentation on current challenges in the field of drug safety in primary care. Later in the afternoon, Prof. Rika Draenert from the LMU Antibiotic Stewardship Team followed with a practical presentation on rational antibiotic therapy in primary care.
The event was also livened up by the new Science Slam format, in which 6 team members presented their current projects in short talks in an entertaining and easy-to-understand way. There was a lot of laughter, but more serious topics were also on the agenda and provided food for thought.
The topics of the Science Slam at a glance:
- Vaccination: A dose of trust (Simon Keppeler)
- BACOM: A closer look(Rita Schwaiger)
- PARTNER: Ask your doctor AND pharmacist(Vita Brišnik)
- Recycling Data: The "green" study design(Hannah Schillok)
- Suicide prevention: Let's talk about it!(Constantin Brand)
- General practice - a mission statement (Jochen Gensichen)
Between the lectures, there were lunch and coffee breaks with poster sessions, during which the audience had the opportunity to exchange ideas with the speakers and with each other. Other members of staff also gave the open-minded guests an insight into the Institute's projects and areas of work. The day was rounded off with a cozy conclusion with food and drink in the institute rooms of the St. Vinzenz-Haus.
We would like to thank all our guests for coming and would be delighted to welcome you all again next year at the LMU Day of General Practice!
