Did you know that over 16% of all sick days in Germany are due to a mental illness?
Around 50% of all adults are affected by a corresponding illness at some point in their lives. Surveys also show that the corona period was an additional mental burden, especially for refugees.
At the same time, a job can be an important building block for mental health. It enables social contacts, secures a stay and makes it possible to experience effectiveness and build self-confidence and status. Factors such as scope for decision-making, employee-oriented management, collegiality and opportunities for further development have a demonstrably positive effect.
At the joint NUiFinar with Ludwig-Maximilians-Uniklinikum München, experienced psychologists and doctors provided an overview and practical tips for dealing with employees who may have been affected by traumatizing and long-lasting experiences of flight or war.
The following was presented as an example of a successful offer of help IMPROVE - Mental Health was then presented. This nationwide project is aimed specifically at refugees with children under the age of 6 who are suspected of having an anxiety disorder, depression or stress disorder. In a therapy intervention, parents are treated by trained GPs and also receive telephone calls with psychological experts and online training.
