"On the experience and suffering of the individual - GP's contribution to mental health"
Up to a third of all consultations in GP practices are also determined by psychological and psychosomatic stress. On June 28, 2024, a symposium was held as part of a celebratory event to mark Prof. Gensichen's 60th birthday to highlight how general practice, with its great tradition of "talking medicine", can contribute to this. The presentations by long-standing colleagues also emphasized the great importance of good interdisciplinary cooperation. The speakers were: Prof. Armin Nassehi, sociologist, Munich; Prof. Mathias Berger, psychiatrist, Freiburg; PD Dr. Konrad Schmidt, general practitioner, Berlin; Carolin Haas, psychologist, Munich and Prof. Tobias Dreischulte, pharmacist, Munich. The guests were welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Thomas Gudermann, and the former Medical Director, Prof. Karl-Walter Jauch, on behalf of the General Medicine Foundation. This was followed by an extensive celebration in the garden of our old monastery.
