Medication safety and pharmacoepidemiology: two international events in June 2023
International symposium on the topic of "Medication safety in outpatient care"
On June 22 and 23, an international symposium on "Medication Safety in Outpatient Care" will take place at our institute, organized by Tobias Dreischulte, Professor of Clinical Health Services Research, and our visiting professor G. Caleb Alexander, MD, from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.
More than 40 invited experts in the field of pharmacoepidemiology, health services research, behavioral research, health policy and clinical medicine from 12 different countries in Europe and North America will gather in Munich, where they will be given an overview of the most important areas of outpatient medication safety, with a particular focus on those with the greatest unmet need and the best opportunities for innovation. Key note speakers include Sebastian Schneeweiss, Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology at Harvard Medical School, and Bruce Guthrie, Professor of General Practice at the University of Edinburgh.
Varied presentation formats as well as plenty of time for discussions in small groups and networking offer an ideal opportunity for scientific exchange at the highest level.
LMU/Harvard Summer School in Pharmacoepidemiology
Following the symposium, the LMU/Harvard Summer School in Pharmacoepidemiology will take place in the last week of June, from June 26 to 30, at the Großhadern Campus of the LMU Klinikum. Under the leadership of Professor Dreischulte (Institute of General Medicine, LMU Klinikum) and Sebastian Schneeweiss (Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology at Harvard Medical School), a five-day program is planned, consisting of scientific lectures and journal clubs, but also practical exercises on working with real world data. Around 20 participants from Germany and other European countries will be offered a unique opportunity for intensive theoretical and practical training in the field of pharmacoepidemiology.
