"DFG-POKAL in Munich"
GPs play a central role in the care of patients with depression, as they often make the initial diagnosis and take the lead in treatment. However, physical illnesses can mask depression and make it more difficult to select and implement suitable therapies.
The General Medicine Research Training Group "Predictors and clinical outcomes of depressive disorders in primary care (POKAL, DFG-GRK 2621)" is therefore developing new diagnostic and treatment approaches and implementation aids for primary care. Nine colleagues from general medicine, psychiatry, psychosomatics, psychology, public health and computer science at LMU and TU Munich (spokesperson: Gensichen J. / co-spokesperson: Schneider A.) will support around 20 doctoral students in this field of research over the next four and a half years. The DFG is providing approximately 5 million euros for this purpose.
