LeAf Trauma - Quality of life and ability to work after severe trauma
Interview with expert Johanna Dohmann
As part of the planned study "LeAf Trauma" (quality of life and ability to work after severe trauma), the University of Düsseldorf conducted semi-structured interviews, one of which our employee Ms. Johanna Dohmann was invited to participate in as an expert. A questionnaire for a cohort study is to be developed on the basis of these interviews. 60 clinics in Germany will observe polytrauma patients over a period of 18 months with the long-term aim of improving care. In the interview, patient pathways from accident to recovery were explored, communication with patients and between professional groups was discussed and ideas for improving the care chain were collected. The overarching themes were quality of life and the ability to work of severely and very severely injured patients. Doctors from various specialties, occupational therapists and a manager from a rehabilitation facility took part. Ms Dohmann focused strongly on psychological co-traumatization and advocated greater involvement of relatives and the GP practice team.
