Opening of the St. Vincent House - our new home
After four years of construction, the St. Vincent House of the Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) Hospital was opened on Thursday. The former mother house of the Order of the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul was renovated and now offers space for outpatient clinics, day clinics, therapy rooms and offices - a new psychiatric care facility for children, adolescents and adults right in the center of Munich.
Our Institute of General Medicine also has rooms in the new building. Prof. Dr. Jochen Gensichen, Director of our Institute, sees this as a great opportunity and synergy effect. After all, the first encounter of a mentally ill patient is with their GP. What can GPs do better? How can they recognize more quickly? "It is now even easier to intensify these skills and provide patients with comprehensive help," says Gensichen. This is because GPs are the point of contact before patients are admitted and after they are discharged.
The relocation of our institute is now imminent and we are very much looking forward to the beautiful premises that we will soon be able to call our new home.
