DOOR - Depression Psychoeducation in Primary Care
The DOOR study (Depression Psychoeducation in Primary Care) investigates the effectiveness of an intensified psychoeducational intervention for the treatment of depression in general practice. The intervention comprises four structured sessions between GPs and patients, combined with continuous monitoring and medication adjustment. The aim is to achieve a significant reduction in depression symptoms compared to the control group.
A total of 94 practices in and around Munich, Bavaria, will participate, with each practice enrolling 7 patients. The intervention consists of a training session for GPs (60 minutes) and four intensified sessions (20 minutes each) in which psychoeducational material will be provided to GPs and patients. Patients will also complete additional tasks between sessions. In addition, patient data (e.g. sleep patterns, activity, heart rate, mood) is recorded and transmitted to the GP at regular intervals to support consultations and medication management.
