Welcome to the website of the Medical Clinic and Polyclinic I (Cardiology)
The Medical Clinic and Polyclinic I of the LMU Hospital of the University of Munich is represented at both the Grosshadern Campus and the City Campus.
The clinic's medical focus is on interventional cardiology, including cardiac catheterization and coronary intervention (balloon dilatation and stent implantation), heart attack treatment and minimally invasive procedures to repair the aortic valve (TAVI) and mitral and tricuspid valve (e.g. with the Mitra-Clip®).
Other key areas of treatment include acute and chronic cardiac insufficiency, the treatment of arrhythmias, internal intensive care medicine and the interventional treatment of atrial septal defects and implantation of atrial appendage closure systems to prevent strokes in patients with atrial fibrillation.
The Medical Clinic and Polyclinic I is certified by the German Society for Cardiology - Cardiovascular Research as:
- Chest Pain Unit (unit for the care of patients with unclear chest pain)
- TAVI Center (catheter-assisted treatment of aortic valve stenosis)
- Mitral Valve Center (catheter-assisted treatment of a leaky mitral valve)
- Specialized heart failure unit (care unit for the treatment of patients with heart failure)
- Atrial fibrillation center and
- Training center for invasive electrophysiology/activeheart rhythm implants
Furthermore, the Medical Clinic and Polyclinic I is a member institution of the Bavarian Heart Attack Network, the European Reference Network for Complex Heart Diseases with Rare and Low Prevalence ERN GUARD-Heart and the German Center for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK).
