Interdisciplinary cardiac catheterization conference
The interdisciplinary cardiac catheterization conference takes place in the cardiac catheterization meeting room (1st floor, E1, room number 460) of the Medical Clinic and Polyclinic I at the Großhadern Campus on a weekly basis, every Thursday from 16:00 - 17:00.
The conference, which is attended by members and specialists of a cardiac team consisting of cardiac surgeons (Cardiac Surgery Clinic and Polyclinic) and cardiologists, enables the discussion of complex cardiovascular cases and their treatment options. Clinical cases and possible revascularization strategies for patients with complex coronary heart disease and for patients with valvular disease, for whom new interventional procedures such as percutaneous aortic valve replacement (TAVI) or mitral valve clipping can be considered in addition to conventional surgical treatment strategies, will be discussed.
Due to the interdisciplinary approach of the conference, the best possible decision for a treatment concept should be determined for each patient. In addition to discussing cases from our own clinic, we would be delighted if medical staff from referring clinics and colleagues in private practice would like to use this forum to discuss their own cases from practice and to discuss possible treatment options with our team of cardiac surgeons and cardiologists.
The event has been certified by the Bavarian Medical Association (BLAEK) with 1 CME point.
You are cordially invited to take part in the event and present your patient yourself. Please send us data and existing findings electronically in preparation for the conference (please contact us in advance if you wish to send larger amounts of data/image files).

The intensive care unit F2, the LMU Heart Team, consisting of doctors from cardiology and cardiac surgery, specializes in the treatment of patients with severe cardiogenic shock using VA-ECMO and complex additional configurations. The treatment data is recorded and analyzed in the LMU Shock Registry (WHO International Clinical Trials Registry DRKS00015860; Ethics Committee IRB: 18-001) under the direction of PD Dr. Clemens Scherer.
Furthermore, the F2 intensive care unit is recognized by the Bavarian Medical Association as a certified training facility for special internal intensive care medicine. In addition, regular further training courses are held in close cooperation with other departments at our clinic.
Training center for additional training in intensive care medicine (WO 2004);24 months (= full)
Authorized trainers: Prof. Dr. med. Stefan Kääband Prof. Dr. med. Hans Theiss
Diseases of the heart valves are common and occur increasingly with advancing age. Diseases of the heart valves are often the cause of limited exercise tolerance and shortness of breath under stress. The quality of life of those affected is therefore considerably reduced.
With the Heart Valve Centre, our clinic specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of heart valve diseases. We also treat complex cases of diseases of the aortic valve, mitral valve and tricuspid valve. The basis for successful treatment is comprehensive and patient-oriented diagnostics. In addition to the most modern diagnostics available, the Heart Valve Center at LMU Klinikum offers treatment using minimally invasive repair techniques. Our center is a national leader in this field. In addition to acute treatment, the LMU Heart Valve Center also offers a structured aftercare program and, with its outpatient clinic, serves as an interface between practicing cardiologists and maximum inpatient care.
